Lanthanide super crystals are of interest to increase energy within solar cell technologies due to solar cells inability to absorb photons at longer wavelengths. Currently, efficiencies of solar cells are limited close to the Schockley-Queisser limit (30%) for c-Si based solar cell devices. Development of light absorbing meta-materials is essential to enhance photonic activities and is key for solar cell energetic enhancements and advancement.
