Abstract
Earthquake is one of the important environmental conditions considered in the design of electrical equipment, especially high voltage and ultra-high voltage electrical equipment. The shockproof of electrical equipment is an important part of the very active "lifeline earthquake project" abroad, because once the power system fails or is damaged, it will cause serious disasters and immeasurable direct and indirect economic losses. In this paper, a short-circuit fault caused by the removal of foreign matters in the transformer caused by earthquake in a substation is deeply analyzed. The short-circuit tripping of fault transformer is comprehensively analyzed by various methods such as fault field detection, return to plant disassembly inspection and theoretical analysis. It is confirmed that the fault reason is that there are metal foreign matters left on the contact of the transformer on load tap changer. In case of earthquake, the transformer body shakes, resulting in the change of the position of metal foreign matters, which is hung between two static contacts, resulting in short circuit and arc discharge. Finally, according to the fault causes, the follow-up preventive measures and suggestions for such faults are put forward.
