Abstract
eDRX has been introduced in 3GPP Release 17 for RedCap device as a key feature for optimizing UE power saving. This paper investigate the energy consumption factor and wake up delay of eDRX mechanism under different configuration parameters of RedCap device, a new type of low-cost device, which are applied in IOT, especially those scenarios with high energy efficiency. We study the theoretical calculation method of energy consumption saving factor and wake up delay when RedCap device is in RRC idle state, the traffic dada arrival rate follows the exponential distribution. We also verify the theoretical model by system simulation. Considering the tradeoff between energy consumption and wake up delay under actual traffic arrival rate, we give the recommended value of eDRX configuration parameters.
