Since the reform and opening up, the rapid development of China's industry has produced a large amount of industrial wastewater containing heavy metals, among which lead is considered as one of the most toxic and harmful elements. The traditional treatment methods have the problems of complex process and high energy consumption, so people begin to pay attention to the resource utilization of graphite tailings. This study uses abandoned graphite tailings as raw materials, which synthesize an adsorbent with a low cost and high -removing rate for Pb2+ through the water heat method. After trying the hydrothermal modification of a variety of raw materials, it was found that when the graphite tailings and potassium carbonate are 1:1, the adsorbent made of water heat has a removal rate of nearly 100% of the 200 ppm Pb2+ after 4 h oscillation. This shows that graphite tailings are modified to make adsorbent to absorb lead ions.
