Abstract
The interaction of the nickel (Ni2) cation with adenosine adenosine 5''- monophosphate (5 ''AMP) adenosine 3 '' 5 '' -cyclic monophosphate (3 '' -5 ''cAMP) and adenosine 5''-diphosphate (5''ADP) has been studied in aqueous solution at neutral pH by differential Raman spectroscopy. Raman hypochromism of the adenine lines at 727 1308 1380 and 1510 cm'' indicating strong stacking interaction has been observed for 5''AMP and 5''ADP in the presence of Ni2''. The metal ions have been also found to interact with adenine and phosphate moieties of 5''AMP and 5''ADP. No comparable spectral changes have been observed for adenosine nor 3''-5''cAMP. 1 .
