Abstract
In recent years, the huge bandwidth and low-loss transmission advantages of single-mode optical fibre have led to its incorporation in an increasing number of optical sensor systems. Traditional methods of processing the optical signals in such systems have been via interruption of the fibre and subsequent insertion of bulk- or integrated-optic components.
