Abstract
Using a microscopic approach, we study light scattering by linear atomic nanostructure modeled as linear chain of identical Lorenz oscillators. It is shown, that the optical response depends on the orientation of scattering system and the number of atoms forming the nanostructure. The relations among the number of atoms, interatomic distance and the resonance frequency shift are obtained.
