Abstract

DubaiSat-2 is a low earth orbit (LEO) remote sensing satellite. The spacecraft generates high-resolution optical images with 1 m resolution in panchromatic (PAN) and 4 m resolution in Multi-Spectral bands (MS: red, green, blue and near-infrared). It will provide different end users with valuable images for a wide range of applications. DubaiSat-2 is a follow on project aimed at building the skills gained from the first satellite project DubiaiSat-1, which was launched on 29^th of July 2009. DubaiSat-2 is scheduled for launch in the last quarter of 2012. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview about DubaiSat-2 and the potential applications for its high-resolution images.
