Profile Summary

Alessandro Rossetta is CEO and founder of FLIM LABS. He earned his MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 at University of California, Irvine, where he worked with Prof. Enrico Gratton on the design of instruments capable of acquiring and processing fluorescence-lifetime signals. After moving back to Italy, bearing in mind the idea of paving the way for a new way of doing FLIM, Dr. Rossetta decided to validate his technology and applied for a PRE-SEED European funding opportunity at Regione Lazio in 2018. He was granted the funding at the end of 2018. His brainchild FLIM LABS then started the engines. Right after the official founding of the company FLIM LABS, Dr. Rossetta enrolled in a Ph.D. course in Bioengineering at the University of Genoa, Italy, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology, Italy. Under the supervision of Dr. Giuseppe Vicidomini and Prof. Alberto Diaspro, he carried out a three-year project that he successfully defended in April 2022. As of January 2022, Alessandro Rossetta has been wholeheartedly dedicated to FLIM LABS, a commitment reinforced by substantial funding from both private venture capital and public allocations from Regione Emilia-Romagna. Furthermore, beginning in January 2024, Dr. Rossetta has taken on the additional responsibility of coordinating the EIC Pathfinder project, LaserBlood, thereby expanding his leadership roles in groundbreaking initiatives within the scientific and entrepreneurial domains.
