Dr. Babu Dayal PADULLAPARTHI has been a specially appointed Professor at the Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST), Institute of Innovation Research (IIR) in Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan since December 2022 and has been researching on 1060nm band single-mode, coupled-cavity VCSELs for 100GBaud long-reach communication through SMF. Concurrently he has been the Co-Founder and Executive Director of vQuanta PLC, founded in September 2022 in New Delhi, India, developing prototypes/products 850nm and 905nm multi-mode VCSELs. He also founded Photonic Components DFM Ltd., HK (2017), and founding member of AIS Laser Technology Company Ltd. (2020) in Hong Kong to provide professional services in the development of VCSEL Photonic Chips. He held many senior executive roles with large responsibilities in Asia-listed companies promoting multiple high-volume VCSEL product development and manufacturing projects, including fundraising. Dr. Padullaparthi holds B. Sc./M. Sc., M. Phil., and Ph. D. degrees from Andhra University (Govt. College at Rajahmundry), University of Hyderabad, IIT Delhi, all in Physics in 1994/1997, 1999, and 2005, respectively. He worked as a JSPS Post-Doc in Tokyo Tech on VCSELs during 2005-09 and received several international Best Poster Awards, Research Scholarships, and Fellowships, including the latest Wiley-IEEE Press Professional Book Award for 2022. He has co-authored more than 50 technical papers, one book on the VCSEL Industry, co-inventor of 33 patents, and is a member of IEEE (Photonics and Communication Societies), Optica (formerly OSA) & SPIE.
