He received his Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Batna in 1994, his Master degree from the National Institute of Applied Science (INSA), Rouen (France) in 1995, and the Ph.D. Degree from the University of Rouen (France) in 1999. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Moncton, New-Brunswick (Canada) in July 2000 as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2006. Between 1998 and 2000, he was a research and teaching associate at the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Rouen, France and between 1996 and 1998, he was a teaching assistant at the same department.

He has been active on many university committees and external boards. His research interests include optical communications, optical fiber components, Wavelength Division Multiplexing technologies, Human-Machine interaction, Electronics devices for people with reduced mobility, Microcontrollers applications in medical fields and Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies. His research projects are funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) grants since 2002.

He is a registered professional engineer in the Province of New-Brunswick, member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), member of the IEEE Communications Society, member of the IEEE Laser & Electro-Optics Society, Lifetime Member of the international society for optics and photonics SPIE, and Lifetime of the Optical Society of America’s.
