Adhesion between the interface of pure silver thin film and three kinds of low refractive index coatings MgF2,Al2O3,SiO2 were compared in this article. The results indicated that the adhesion of Al2O3 and Ag was evidently superior to that of MgF2 and Ag ,and the adhesion of MgF2 and Ag was evidently superior to that of SiO2 and Ag. Reasons were analyzed accordingly. On the other hand, we compared the effect on the optical characteristic of Ag film when these three kinds of films were used as protective coatings and protective coatings. Considering the difference of the adhesion between Ag and MgF2,Al2O3,SiO2,suited uses are given for each other.
HfO2/SiO2 dielectric mirrors for 355 nm, prepared by conventional electron beam deposition, had been investigated with respect to their laser damage resistance. Two kinds of HfO2 with different purity were chosen as the high index material, whose impurity contents were evaluated by Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometer (GDMS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Laser damage testing was performed both in the “1-on-1” and the “s-on-1” regime, using 355 nm pulsed laser with a pulse width of 8 ns. It was found that the laser induced damage threshold (LIDT) for single-shot was much higher than that for multishot. A phenomenon displayed that the impurity of zirconium was a critical hindrance in improving the LIDT in the single-shot process, but such an effect was not shown in the multishot process. The damage mechanism is different in the two manner of radiation, the main cause of the damage in single-shot is impurity absorption and that in the multishot is accumulation of structural defects. Optical microscopy and surface profiler was employed in mapping laser-induced damage morphology features after irradiation.
Coatings with layer structures of Ag/glass, Ag/Cr/glass, and Ag/Cr-Ag/Cr/glass deposited with magnetron sputtering are investigated. The results indicate that the performance for reflectance, hardness, adherence, and humidity durability of the silver coatings with Ag/Cr/glass and Ag/Cr-Ag/Cr/glass structures are better than pure silver film. In addition, the silver coatings with an Ag/Cr-Ag/glass structure present more advantages than that of the Ag/Cr/glass. Reasons are analyzed accordingly.
In this paper, the periodic all dielectric multilayers of high reflection phase retarders are designed. And the software of Tfcalc has been used to optimized for the design that produces a 900phase shift between the p- and s- polarization components at the incidence angle of 540 and at the wavelength of 1315 nm while maintaining high reflectivity (>99.90%) for both components. A tolerance analysis indicates that the coating layers must be deposited within ±14% to achieve a 90± iO° phase shift error.
The optical sensitive characteristic of SnO2 and V2O5 thin films to the gas SO2 was investigated with photometric and ellipsometric methods. It is found that thin films of the Pd-doped SnO2 and pure-V2O5 have good optical sensitive characteristics to SO2 in the visible range, and the Zr-doped SnO2 film in the near-infrared area. The results show that the change of the optical characteristic is directly related to the variation of optical gap and the concentration of free carrier in thin films.
PbTiO3 (PT) thin film with perovskite-type microstructure was synthesized directly on transparent sapphire using a rf-magnetron sputtering system with a composite target. The results show that the film is completely [111] oriented, and the lattice constant is larger than that of bulk PT material. The optical properties were calculated from the transmittance spectrum alone, and the dispersion was found to fit the single-term Sellmeier relation well. The minimum refractive index of the film is found to be 2.51, and the direct band-gap energy is estimated to be 3.65 eV from the linear fitting of the absorption coefficient to the Tauc plot of ((alpha) hv)2 vs hv.
We developed several ten sorts of harmonic mirrors, anti- reflector and separator coatings for cavity components, lens, separators to satisfy the needs of YAG harmonic laser system. This paper mainly introduced the optical properties and the damage thresholds of some of these coatings. At a normal or a 45 degree incidence angle, the separators satisfied the requirements such as HR for 1 (omega) , 2 (omega) /HT for 3 (omega) , or HR for 2(omega) /HT for 1 (omega) , 2(omega) , or HR for 2 (omega) , 4(omega) , and the mirrors or anti-reflectors could be simultaneously used for two or three wavelengths among the base wavelength 1053nm and its second, third, fourth harmonic wavelength.
