Abstract
This paper describes a class of cloud detection algorithms that are well suited for implementations that provide ultrafast information about current cloud conditions. The algorithms can work on a variety of sensor data including data from satellites, radars and all-sky cameras. Using currently available VLSI technology, the algorithm implementations can generate information in less than five seconds after the sensor data are received.
