Abstract
Photosensitizing properties of selected porphyrins: hematoporphyrin (HP). mesoporphyrin (MP), protoporphyrin (PP), coproporphyrin (CP) and hematoporphyrin disuccinate (HPDS) have been investigated "in vitro" as a function of concentration, pH and polarity of the medium. Dimerization constants for the five porphyrins have been determined under analogous experimental conditions and a correlation between the aggregation state and photosensitizing properties was found.
