We review the various display engine technologies and subsequent optical architectures used today in AR and see-through MR headsets to enable the best possible three-dimensional immersion experience for the user. Special consideration will be given to the degree of adequacy of the display architecture to the human perceptive system in order to increase visual comfort for prolonged usage.
Wearable comfort issues are also addressed as key issues for broad acceptance, and range from size, weight, center of gravity to thermals, fabrics and more.
