Abstract
With the wide application of flexible direct current (DC) technology, protection of flexible DC converter station plays a key role in the stable operation of the system. However, there is currently no mature tool for flexible DC protection test in regular maintenance. This paper firstly analyses the topology structure and operation mode of Zhuhai "Internet +" smart energy demonstration project and takes Tangjia Station as an example to analyse its main wiring and key equipment. Then, according to the protection principle of the converter station, three protection areas are divided, namely alternating current (AC) protection area, modular multi-level converter (MMC) protection area, DC protection area. Finally, flexible DC control and protection in the Tangjia station are studied, and a protection test method based on IEC 60044-8-FT3 message is proposed. The actual test proves that the method is effective.
