Abstract
Noise is unwanted sound from environmental sources. Noise exposure has long been recognized as a significant source of health hazards in working life. It is increasingly seen as a commonly harmful environmental factor in cities, directly impacting mental and physical health. This paper intends to present and diagnose the urban noise problem from multiple perspectives through a quantitative study of the noise complaint reports from the 311 system noise complaint platform in New York City, USA in 2020, by conducting correlation analysis and regression analysis on noise formation in terms of community-level characteristics, land use characteristics and the number of public facilities factors. Through the diagnosis of the noise problem in New York City, the findings have a good insight into solving the current issues of noise management in China's urban management: firstly, the legislation on urban noise management needs more precise and more scientific and operational; secondly, the means of urban noise management should promote more diversity; thirdly, the sources of urban noise will be more precisely grasped and controlled; fourthly, the types of urban noise needs more openly public to the public to know the kind.,and more widely known to the public.
