Abstract
In this study, we develop a prototype 2/3-type 4K camera with a prism spectrograph that can capture images at a frame rate of 240 fps. Herein, the simplest configuration uses three 4K 240 fps image sensors corresponding to the three primary colors of light: red, green, and blue. Currently, the fastest 2/3-type 4K image sensor has a frame rate of 120 fps. By using the 2×2 binning function of the image sensor, the imaging speed is accelerated by a factor of four, and the screen resolution is reduced to 1/4. Particularly, we develop the 4K 240 fps camera by adopting the dual-green method, which can restore the 4K resolution by using two sensors for the green channel.
