Abstract
In this paper, we report a novel method to design the whole data zone with character code and address code in a ϕ120mm master disc. In this method, we define parameter of the rectangle unit. The length of rectangle is 1μm and the width is 0.8μm. The orbit distance is set at 3μm and the distance between microstructures is 2μm. In addition, the total number of orbits is 16667 in the master disc which occupied the radius from 8mm to 58mm. Moreover, the data zone is divided into 180 sectors and these sectors rotate to form a big ring in the master disc. Therefore, using this programming method, the maximum file size can be dramatically decreased to 870MB, while the file size is 75GB in traditional programming method. This novel programming method achieves the one-time input into the laser direct writing machine without several-time input avoiding the splicing trace in the master disc through laser direct writing. Also, the one-time electroplate technology and the two-time electroplate technology were conducted. The micropore size increased with the laser intensity for graphic zone which leaving holes on the surface of master disc, while the micropore size decreased with laser intensity for exposure of blank zone which leaving bosses on the surface master disc. The micropore size remains the same size during the whole process indicating the excellent stability and reliability of the process. This work proves the feasibility and potential use of a new physical format for long-life holographic storage disc.
