Abstract
Genetic Algorithms are an important method for optimizing composite materials. While using them Genetic Algorithms the optimization design of composite materials, a significant problem arises where material types may not be directly mapped to binary encodings. In this paper, we propose a natural number-binary hybrid encoding to overcome this issue, improving generality. Furthermore, one of the major drawbacks of Genetic Algorithms is premature convergence. This paper suggests a method to escape local optima by utilizing variable mutation rates to address premature convergence.
