Abstract
A scanning laser Doppler vibrometer is used to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a tensioned wire specimen. A mathematical formulation and solution is presented for comparison. The ultimate application, investigating the filament behavior in quartz lamp heaters, is also discussed.
