Abstract
The orientation capability of isotropic solution-cast films of new crosslinkable thermotropic main-chain copolyesters with itaconoyl units during uniaxial drawing was demonstrated by means of polarized FTIR-spectrometry. The dichroic ratios reflect an alignment of the polymer chains especially of stiff chain segments. (pi) - and (sigma) -dichroic bands change during drawing as expected. Orientation effects dominate in the drawn films of the ternary copolyester compared with the binary ones.
