Abstract

There have been 4,032 laser surgical operations for the last 7 years with available first generation lasers (CO₂, Nd:YAG, argon, combo (CO₂ + Nd:YAG). The most important experience, the advantages and disadvantages of application are shown by the evaluation of results and complications. In oral soft tissue surgery the most important indicational circles of the use of first generation lasers have been established. The clinical introduction of a second generation of surgical lasers (Ho:YAG, Er:YAG, excimer, etc.) brings new possibilities in not only hard tissue surgery, but it also widens the advantages of the use of surgical lasers in the surgery of oral soft tissues.
