Abstract
Transverse stimulated Brillouin scattering (TSBS) in anisotropic crystals is investigated experimentally and theoretically. A computer model of TSBS in anisotropic media was developed and calculations were conducted of TSBS characteristics anisotropy and parasitic Stokes radiation growth. Experimentally characteristics of TSBS were defined by the method of SBS excitation in the transverse resonator. As a test medium fused silica was used. Medium characteristics were deduced from comparison of experimental oscillograms and analytical solution of SBS generation equations averaged over the resonator length.
