Abstract
In principle the interpolation of the quincunx subsampled images is a simple process where the neighboring pixels are used to approximate the missing ones. Several linear or non- linear interpolation filters have been proposed for this purpose. However, the are was with fine details cause difficulties, because part of the original information has been lost due to downsampling. In this paper we propose two FIR-median hybrid filters that when combined with 4-point median filters, give very good subjective and numerical interpolation results. These filters can be used for both the monochrome and color images. The performance of the filters has been evaluated using several natural and artificial test images.
