Abstract
ESA has developed a concept for on-board processing of payload data that can be configured and tuned to a wide range of future missions. An overview will be given of the space qualified components (Boards, Modules and S/W Tools as well as the status of components under development. Illustrations of the suitability of the initial architectural concepts will be given. These building blocks allow us to build a space-bound hyper-spectral image processing and compression system, which has a high throughput and is flexible and reconfigurable to quickly adapt to different user needs.
