Abstract
In this paper, a method called generalized N-dimensional PCA (GND-PCA) is proposed for statistical volume modeling of medical volumes in this paper. The medical volume is treated as a series of 3rd-order tensors and the bases on each mode-subspace are calculated in order to approximate the tensors accurately. The GND-PCA is successfully applied into the construction of the statistical volume models for 3D CT lung volumes. Experiments show that the constructed models have good performance on generalization even though the training samples are quite few.
