Abstract
After the completion of the Baihetan hydropower station, because the variation of reservoir water level is as high as 60m, the bank slope along the river may be deformed and destroyed due to its scheduling, and the gravel shore slope on the left bank of Xiaojiang River is a representative bank slope in the Baihetan reservoir area. In the paper, representative soil is selected for indoor experiments through a site survey. The maximum dry density and optimal moisture content of gravel soil were obtained by heavy compaction instrument, and the shear strength indexes of soil in natural state and saturated state were obtained by large direct shear test in indoor. Furthermore, using three-stage model, the extent of the landslide in three typical profiles were predicted, and the stability of possible landslide area is analysed by means of transfer coefficient method. Finally, the overall stability of the three profiles was calculated by Geo-studio software. The results show that after the impoundment of Baihetan hydropower station, the typical sections of the travel slope on the left bank of Xiaojiang River are less likely to collapse, and the stability of it is adequate.
