Abstract
Beam intensity is a fundamental parameter of beam flow. The beam intensity measurement system of the Heavy Ion Medical Machine (HIMM) requires a wide dynamic range current detection card to monitor the beam intensity. The card will receive the current signal and integrate it within the fully differential current frequency converter (FDCFC). A voltage comparator is employed to check the output against the threshold and control the current integrate direction. The input current signal is transformed into a TTL signal by integrating and changing current direction between the differential pairs. The card utilizes a high slew rate differential amplifier and a multi-switch, and the current is integrated in different branches of pairs. The laboratory tests show the following results: The fully differential current frequency converter performs effectively, with an input dynamic range covering 1nA to 10mA, a nonlinear error of less than 15%, and an output frequency ranging from 100Hz to 200kHz, meeting all the design goals.
