Profile Summary

I'm a researcher working at National Institute of Radiological Sciences in Japan.
I have received my PhD degree at Eulji University, South Korea in 2018.
Doctoral dissertation: "A multimodal laparoscope for simultaneous NIR/gamma/visible fusion imaging".

One of my main research interests is to develop a multimodal laparoscope for intraoperative application. In order to do that, I have designed and manufactured a custom-made prototype multimodal laparoscope which can provide simultaneous NIR/gamma/visible images. I was in charge of the entire system design of a combined gamma imaging and fluorescence optical imaging system. Optical simulation using ZEMAX and GATE software were used. The proposed multimodal laparoscope will be beneficial to the localization of sentinel lymph node for prostate cancer patient. The target radiopharmaceutical is ICG-99mTc-nanocolloid which has been widely used in Europe for identification of sentinel lymph node during fluorescence/radioisotope guided surgery.
Secondly, my research interest is to optimize the scintillation light transport inside a scintillator using GATE optical simulation for TOF-DOI PET development. So I have investigated the effects of crystal surface roughness and reflector on the timing and DOI resolution of a SiPM based dual-ended readout PET detector using both optical simulation and experiment. The development and optimization of a SiPM based PET detector in a block detector level is my main research interest.
Thirdly, I'm interested in the modeling of an IVIS optical imaging system using GATE Monte-Carlo simulation toolkit. I have implemented a biconvex lens into GATE Monte-Carlo simulation toolkit for the first time in 2016 for bioluminescence, fluorescence and Cerenkov luminescence imaging.

I'm looking forward to contributing to the SPIE journals either by author or reviewer.
I have been selected as a reviewer for Physics in Medicine and Biology since Dec-2015.
