In order to realize the face recognition in unrestricted posture, it is required to exclude an influence of three-dimensional face pose which cause a shape distortion and a change of a distance among face parts. Also it is required not to be influenced by the face image change on size. In this paper, the authors propose an invariant pattern on face image, which is shift-invariant and rotation-invariant in orthogonal plane to the camera and is shift-invariant toward depth. We also propose a method for detecting the face position and face pose in unknown posture. Furthermore we show an experimental result, which is performed to verity the efficacy of the method.
